Mary Ella Rayborn

            Mary Ella Rayborn, 88, of Mt. Carmel, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 16, 2016, with her family by her side at United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois. 

            Mary was born February 8, 1928, to Fred and Florence (Deisher) Richardson in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  On June 23, 1945, Mary married Riley Rayborn in Henderson Kentucky.  She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ.

            Surviving are five children, Vonda Stokes of Richmond Texas, Sandra Kay Theriot of Walker Louisiana, Patricia Ankenbrand of Mt. Carmel Illinois, Kenneth and his wife Vicki Rayborn of Mt. Carmel Illinois, and, Sharon Ravellette of Columbia Missouri.  Also left to cherish her memory are fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; her sister Betty Goodman and brother, Bob Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.

            Mary was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Riley Rayborn, a son, Edward Rayborn, brothers John and Thomas Frederick Richardson, and, parents Fred and Florence Richardson.

            Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel Illinois.

            The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. also in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

            The family wishes to extend our thanks and gratitude to the staff of United Methodist Village North, Lawrenceville, Illinois and Good Samaritan Hospice of Vincennes, Indiana for their care of our mother during her stay.

            Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.  Envelopes will be available at Short’s Funeral Home.
