Mary E (Blackford) Tieken

Mary E. Tieken, 85, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, Indiana.

          She was born Thursday, March 5, 1931, in Edwards County, Illinois, the daughter of James and Zadie (Briggs) Blackford.  Mary was a graduate of Edwards County High School.  On Saturday, July 24, 1971, she married Bernard F. Tieken in Haubstadt, Indiana. 

          Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel.  She worked at Snap-On Tools and retired after 25 years of service.  Mary will be sadly missed by her family and family dog, Weedle.

          Left to cherish her memory is her nieces and nephews. 

          Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brothers Marvin, Harold and Edwin Blackford.

          Family and friends may call Wednesday, October 5, 2016, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bill Rowe conducting the service.  Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Poplar Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
