Margie Ruth Seitz, 92, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care.
She was born October 7, 1924, in Washington, Indiana, the daughter of Theodore and Ola (Dougherty) Young. Margie graduated from Washington High School. On March 14, 1948, Margie married Rodger Seitz. He preceded her in death in 1985.
In Washington, Indiana, Margie worked as a loan company secretary and was a clerk at Crane Ammunition Deport during WWII. For 15 years she was the secretary of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel, retiring in 1975. Following retirement, Margie and her husband spent ten winters in Winter Haven, Florida. After his death she continued to snowbird until 2012. Margie loved traveling throughout the United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia and Europe.
Margie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a 50 year member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, on the Wabash General Hospital Auxiliary, the Ladies Wednesday Golf Club (making two holes in one at the Mt. Carmel Golf Course), the Lake Deer Social Club in Winter Haven, Florida and served as chairman of the Mt. Carmel Oil Patch Golf Tournament for many years. Margie enjoyed Bridge, Golf, Shuffleboard, walking and counted-cross stitch.
Left to cherish her memory is her children Rodney Seitz and his wife Monica of Midland, Texas, and Marsha Gritton and her husband Ed of Danville, Illinois; grandchildren Greg Gritton (Kim Eldridge), Gary (Meridith) Gritton; great-grandchildren Nathaniel, Naomi and Nigel Gritton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services for Margie will be Friday, October 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 512 Mulberry Street, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Margie’s family would like to thank the staff of Oakview Heights for their wonderful care and love during her stay this past year.
