Margaret E. Craig, 92, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Gibson General Hospital, in Princeton, Indiana.

She was born April 29, 1925 in Crossville, IL, the daughter of Allie and Pearl (Benton) McCorkle. Margaret married Edward Craig, he preceded her in death.

 Survivors include two daughters; Donna Goings and Teresa (Richard Russelburg) Howe of Mt. Carmel; two grandchildren, Thad (Deana) Goings and Shea (Jonathan) Riley; great grandchildren, Dani (Blake) Spindler, Brady and Abby Goings, Keir Curtis and Jordis Riley; two great great grandchildren, Amelia and Declan Spindler; brothers, William (Frances) McCorkle of Mt. Carmel and James (Juanita) McCorkle of Browns, IL; Companion, Bob Koch and sons Dan and David; and grandpuppy “Huck”.

She was a member of VFW and American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles, Moose and Elks Lodge #715. She worked at Mt. Carmel Apparel as a Seamstress.

Margaret loved spending time with family and friends. She looked forward to spending winters in Florida.   “Wherever she goes she leaves a little Sparkle”

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed; sister Lettie Copelin; and son-in-law Jim Goings.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Steve Akin officiating in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.

Funeral Report

Margaret E. Craig

          The funeral service for Margaret E. Craig was held Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home.  Pastor Steve Akins conducted the service.  It included Prayer, Scripture Readings, and a Message.  Dan Koch shared memories of Margaret.  Marcia Woodcock provided keyboard music for the service.  During the service she played “What a Wonderful World” and “Amazing Grace.”  Margaret loved doing the Electric Slide.  Before the last song was played, the congregation was invited to stand and do the Electric Slide by CD music in her honor.  To end the service “Hello in Heaven” by Freeman’s was played.   The burial service was conducted by Pastor Steve Akins at Highland Memorial Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.  Pallbearers were Thad Goings, Jonathan Riley, Shad White, Rob Risley, Dan Koch and Keir Curtis.  Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes, PC was honored to serve Margaret’s family.
