Lola M (Moore) Greer

Lola M. Greer, 90, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at Newburgh Healthcare Center in Newburgh, Indiana.

            She was born Saturday, September 25, 1926 in Grayville, Edwards County, Illinois, the daughter of Harry W. and Muriel (Wise) Moore. Lola married V.G. Greer July 25, 1947. He preceded her in death April 27, 2005.

            Lola was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. She was active in the Wabash General Hospital Auxiliary as the buyer for the Gift Shop for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Career Women, VFW, American Legion and a volunteer for the Senior Citizens. Lola worked in the Wabash County Assessor’s Office for twenty-three years. She loved working in her flower gardens.

            Left to cherish her memories are her children Gregory A. Greer of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda S. (Jim) Barnett of Newburgh, IN; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother Donald (Wanda) Moore and several nieces and nephews.

            Preceding her in death was her parents; husband of fifty-seven years, V.G. Greer; eight siblings Harry, Hayward, Leonard, Robert, Jerry and Glen Moore, Marie DiGirolomo, Doris Fisher and Janet Marlow.

            Lola’s family would like to thank the Newburgh Healthcare Center for all their help with the care of their mother.

            Visitation will be Wednesday February 22 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel.

            Funeral will follow visitation on Wednesday February 22 at 1:00 pm at Short Funeral Home and burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

            Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
