Lillian Genelles (Large) Hardenbrook

July 2, 1933 ~ February 5, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Lillian Genelle Hardenbrook, 82, of Mt. Carmel, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, February 05, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Newburgh, Indiana.

Lil was born Sunday, July 2, 1933 in Mill Shoals, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Mary (Bain) Large. She married Reed Hardenbrook Tuesday, August 29, 2005 and he survives.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. Lil worked as a waitress for 52 years. She worked in many of the restaurants in Mt. Carmel, including the Elks and Fireside. She always had a smile on her face; she was loved by all.

Lil loved animals, even had a dog grooming service at one time. Her own dogs, “Baby” and “Bear” were very special to her. She also volunteered at the Wabash County Animal Shelter.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of ten years, Reed; son, Monte Turner of Mt. Carmel; daughter Rachel (Phil) Martin of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, and Noah Martin; sisters, Virginia Emery of Carmi, Eleanor Foley of Evansville, Indiana, Gracie Ragsdale of Cambridge, Ohio; Tony Sweppy, who she loved like a son; and lifelong friend and loving father of her children, Ray Turner.

Lil was a devoted Grandma, loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their activities. She was dedicated to her sisters, Virginia, Eleanor and Gracie; she talked with them every day.  She enjoyed talking on the phone, drinking coffee, working crossword puzzles and spending time on the computer. She enjoyed the many outings she had with her “Special Group of Friends”.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother.
