Gerald "Jerry" R Broster

Jerry Broster, 93, of Mt. Carmel, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab.

        He was born October 16, 1922, in Edwards County, the son of Kenneth and Welcome (Rude) Broster.  Jerry was a 1941 graduate of Browns High School.  He married Wanda Morlan January 19, 1946, in Browns, Illinois.  He proudly served his country in World War II.  Over his lifetime he was a farmer, truck driver and worked in the oil fields.  Jerry was a member of Bellmont Christian Church, where he severed as Chairman on the Church Board, trustee and an elder.

        Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Wanda, of 70 years; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Steven Kenneth Broster; brothers, Bert Broster and Kenneth Broster, Jr.; and sister, Betty Ewing.

        Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
