Frances Parr

Frances Parr, 93, of Jasper IN, formerly of Mt. Carmel, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the St Charles Health Campus in Jasper IN.

She was born on Wednesday June 13, 1923, the seventh of twenty-one children of Alva and Emma (Evans) Williams in Wabash County, Illinois. She married Eldon E. “Peanut” Parr on November 13, 1948 in Dixon KY and he preceded her in death.

Frances graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1941. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper IN. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, sewing and making candies. Frances worked for many retail stores in Mt. Carmel, including Weems Shoe Shanty and Hallmark Gift Shop.

Left to cherish her memories are one son, Phil and his wife Julie Parr, of Jasper IN; two step daughters, Jean Ann Parr and Shirley Maquar, both of Sylmar CA; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are five siblings Lillian Mae Elledge, Margaret Alice Hylton, Harold Williams, Betty Louise Saumer, and Yvonne Selby.

Preceding Frances in death are her parents; husband; step son, Kerry Parr; and fifteen siblings, Ola, Victor Ivan, Helen Esther, Thomas Alvin, James Robert, Paul, Roscoe Everett, Georgianna, Jesse Junior, Elbert, Delbert, Stanley Franklin, Alma Lavon, Roland Ray and Ronald.

Visitation will be Monday, December 12, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Short Funeral Home at 527 N Mulberry St. in Mt. Carmel IL

Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
