Frances N (Moore) Bobbitt

Frances N. Bobbitt, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 03, 2016 at her son’s home surrounded by family.

She was born Monday, March 21, 1927 in Mt. Carmel, IL to the late George Moore and Nellie (Holland) Bruce. Frances married Orville H. Bobbitt January 22, 1946 in Kentucky; he preceded her in death on January 8, 1991. Together they had three children.

She was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She loved playing Bingo and poker, and enjoyed working with ceramics.

Left to cherish her memories are two children, Cecil (Janice) Bobbitt and George Thomas Bobbitt; five grandchildren, Orville C. Bobbitt, Jr., Jimmy (Diane) Bobbitt, Sylvia (Victor) Dudley, Angie (Scott) Davis, Kevin Wood; sixteen Great Grandchildren, Caitlyn (Adam) Lambert, Hanna, Madison, Allison Bobbitt, Dalton Bobbitt, Byron Ayscue, Brooklyn, Breanna, Brayden and Leeua Dudley, Ashley (Andrew) Morris, Tyler and Taylor (Kendall) Young, Tiffney (Jim) Church, Natalie Wood, Jayden Perez Wood;  and  Nine Great-Great Grandchildren, Lexi and Kayden Lambert, Aiden and Addy Fryman, and Ava Morris; Cade Belt, Jasmine, Bentley and Chloe Church; and dear friend, Ann Metcalf. She was affectionately known as “Ma Bobby” and “Grandma” by all her grandchildren.

Preceding Frances in death were her parents and step-father Clarence Bruce; husband; daughter, Frances Ann Armstrong and son-in-law John Edward Armstrong; one grandchild Lori Ellen Bobbitt; one sister, Beulah Stephens; two brothers, George and Merle Moore; one infant brother, Harley Bruce.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry St., Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel.
