Doris J. Jones, 86, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2017, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care.

 

She was born October 8, 1930, at Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin and Amanda K. (Craigg) Smith.  On November 4, 1950, Doris married Nathan J. Jones.  He preceded her in death.

 

Doris was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Mt. Carmel.  She worked as an in home care giver.

 

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Connie J. Shafer of Williston, Florida, Collien J. Amos of Keensburg, Illinois, Nathan J. Jones II of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lewis B. Jones of Keensburg, Illinois and Jeffery A. Jones of Mattoon, Illinois; twenty three grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and, a sister Goldie Cochran of Harristown, Illinois. 

 

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Collette Thompson and Eugene Jones; siblings, Johnny Smith, Clyde Smith, Cathryn Schofield, Junior Smith, Orville Smith, Pearl Goff, Roy Smith, Ray Smith, Genevieve Stewart and an infant sister Eleanor Smith. 

 

There will be a graveside service Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

 

Visitation will be Friday, August 4, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
