Clarence Edward Johnson

            Clarence Edward Johnson, 63, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care with his family by his side.

            He was born July 29, 1953 in Wabash County, Illinois to Robert E. and Joann Shearer Johnson.  Ed graduated in the class of 1971 from Mt. Carmel High School.  He was a commercial truck driver for Walt’s Drive Away. 

           Ed was a member of First Baptist Church.  He enjoyed going to Twin Rivers restaurant and socializing with people that came there to eat. 

            Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Eddie and his wife Mary Johnson of Mt. Carmel, and Robbie and his wife Cortney Johnson of Princeton, Indiana; grandchildren, Ruby Gayle Johnson, Jaylah, Javy, Justiss and Jaida Johnson; siblings, Deborah (Mike) Newton of Palm Ray, Florida, Susan Johnson of Blackfoot, Idaho, Jennifer (Sam) Williams of Mt. Carmel, Joseph Patrick (Jane) Johnson of Appling, Georgia and Robert Michael Johnson of Mt. Carmel; and a best friend, Lonnie Meadows.

            Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Jeremiah Johnson and a sister-in-law, Regina Johnson.

            Visitation will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

            The funeral will follow visitation on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

            Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Food Pantry at First Baptist Church.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
