Claire L. Tinsley

Claire L. Tinsley, 92, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Oakview Heights surrounded by her loving family.

            She was born, Monday, February 18, 1924, the daughter of George and Clara (Ford) West in Centralia, Illinois.  Claire married Leroy Tinsley Saturday, January 28, 1950, in Belleville, Illinois. 

            She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Mt. Carmel Women’s Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and past member of Mt. Carmel Planning Commission.  Claire had a zest for life and never met a stranger.

            Left to cherish her memory is her children Trudy and husband Ed Tucker of Manitou, Kentucky, and Tom and his wife Terri Tinsley of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren Emily and husband Jake Brown and Maggie Tinsley; and great-granddaughter Lily Brown. 

            Preceding her in death were her parents, husband of 63 years, Leroy, and siblings, Edward West, George West, Eileen Kussin, Marcella Harting and Jack West.

            Visitation for Claire will be Sunday, March 13, 2016, from 1:00 until 3:00 in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with the funeral service immediately following at 3:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. 

            Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Youth.  Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
